Recycle your foil and help others
Residents in Kidderminster can now recycle their aluminium foil
and support a local community group, thanks to a partnership
between Wyre Forest District Council and Go Green Recycling.
Three new foil recycling banks have been placed around
Kidderminster, just in time for Christmas, so residents can recycle
their clean aluminium foil, including takeaway and ready meal
containers, minced pie cases, dairy lids and kitchen foil.
The new bank locations are the Co-op supermarket recycling area
at Franche, Morrison's supermarket recycling area at Green Street
Kidderminster and Lidl supermarket recycling area, Vale Road,
Stourport.
Once you have recycled your aluminium foil through one of the
banks, Go Green Recycling collect, sort and bale the material ready
for recycling. The sale of this material helps to raise funds for
the group.
Don't worry if you can't make it to one of the new banks, foil
can also be recycled
through any of
the district's can recycling banks, the locations of which can be
found on the Wyre Forest District Council's
website, however Go Green Recycling will not benefit from
this.
Jo Duffield, Recycling Officer for Wyre Forest District Council
said,
"Not only will you be helping your local community group by
recycling your used clean foil, there are also big environmental
benefits as aluminium can be recycled again and again, with no loss
of quality, saving over 95% of the energy used to make it from raw
material.'
Councillor Nathan Desmond, Cabinet Member for Resources
said,
"This project makes it much easier for residents to access
recycling facilities for foil, whilst benefiting a local group. We
have not been able to collect foil at the kerbside since July as it
cannot be sorted at the new recycling facility. We are, however,
able to recycle so much more material since the summer and
residents are now recycling over 8% more which is fantastic.'
