Building Control in Worcestershire
Wyre Forest District Council's Cabinet will be considering a
proposal at its meeting on 16th November to join its
Building Control Service with Redditch and Bromsgrove Councils to
form a North Worcestershire Service.
The Building Control team ensures that new buildings and works
to existing buildings are carried out in accordance with the
Building Regulations to ensure that they are built to correct
standards, are safe to use and are energy efficient etc.
The proposal to join with Redditch and Bromsgrove would see a
more resilient service developed that has the scale to further
develop partnerships with local agents and developers offering a
competitive alternative to the private sector Approved Inspectors
who are also able to carry out the Building Control service.
Councillor Stephen Clee, Wyre Forest District Council Cabinet
Member for Planning and Regeneration said:
"Wyre Forest District Council already offers an excellent
Building Control service for residents and businesses of Wyre
Forest and those wanting to develop in the area. However, we
recognise the benefits of working with our North Worcestershire
colleagues and want to further develop the potential for the
service."
Before Cabinet decide on the proposal at the 16th
November meeting, the Council's Corporate Resources Committee will
be scrutinising the proposal at its meeting on 11th
November.
