Bee excited at Bewdley Museum
Bewdley Museum is getting ready to show off the new bee display
on May Bank Holiday as part of this year's Discover Bewdley Event.
Members of Kidderminster Bee Keepers Association and the Friends of
Bewdley Museum are helping staff to create a permanent display in
the museum's herb garden to give an insight into the habits,
lifestyle and importance of bees.
On Sunday 30th and Monday 31st May from
10am to 4pm the museum will be 'buzzing with activity' when the new
display is unveiled.
Ruth Finney, Museum Development Officer said "Visitors will also
be able to see an award winning observation hive, find out how to
make a bee friendly garden, taste different types of honey and see
how herbs are used to create aromatic waters. Between 12noon and
3.30pm kids can enjoy making pottery hives and colourful bees and
butterflies to take home.
The Kidderminster Bee Keepers Association will be on hand to
answer questions and their volunteers are giving two talks in the
Museum's Education Room: Honey and it's Uses, Sunday 30th May 2.30
pm with Pam Collier and, on Monday 31st May 2.30 pm, The
Bee Keeping Year with David Mills. Both are £3 on the door.
Councillor Tracey Onlsow, Wyre Forest District Council's Cabinet
Member for Community and Partnership Services said,
"This is a very popular annual event in Bewdley. As well as the
new bee display at the museum there is a whole programme of
activities taking place in the town so it is really worth a visit.
There will be a park and ride from Bewdley High School so it will
be easy to come and enjoy the event."
Bewdley Museum is open daily between 10am and 4pm, Entry is
free. For more information visit our Museum pages.
