Are you ready for this year's general election?

Wyre Forest District Council is urging residents to secure their right to vote.

Ian Miller, Chief Executive and Returning Officer for Wyre Forest said,

"If you are not on the electoral register, you won't be able to vote at general election or  district council elections on 6th May.  The deadline for registering to vote at them is Tuesday 20 April."

Registering to vote only takes a few minutes. You can print off a form from http://www.aboutmyvote.co.uk/ , the website of the independent elections watchdog, the Electoral Commission. Or you can email Wyre Forest District Council election office or  telephone on 01562 732739

Electoral Commission spokesman, Chris Hinde, Regional Manager, for the Midlands said,

"Sometimes people don't realise they need to re-register every year.  Wyre Forest District Council sent you a registration form last autumn but, if you are not sure you returned it or if you have moved house in the last year and have not registered with your new details, you need to register now.  Don't let anything stop you having your say on election day."
