Your money, your choice
Wyre Forest residents are being asked for their views on the
budget proposals put forward by Wyre Forest District Council's
administration.
An online survey 'Your money, your choice' is available on the
homepage of the Council's website. It is asking for views on
Council Tax levels, proposals for savings and opinions on areas for
spending. The survey also includes a section to find out
views on whether the Council offers value for money.
The Cabinet's budget proposals include measures to tackle the
financial pressures placed on the authority due to the economic
downturn. The Council is expected to have to make savings of at
least £4 million over the next three years. The revenue budget is
what the District Council uses for the day to day running of
services such as waste and recycling collections, food and health
and safety inspections, planning and building control and parks and
play areas.
The Cabinet is proposing to raise its element of Council Tax by
2.5% next year that would mean an average rise of £4.82 for the
District Council's share of the bill. The greater part of
Council Tax payers' money goes to bodies including the County
Council, Police and Fire and Rescue Authorities.
Councillor Nathan Desmond, Wyre Forest District Council's
Cabinet Member for Resources said,
"We have put forward a wide range of measures to tackle the
difficult financial position we find ourselves in. The online
survey is a quick and easy way for residents to let us know their
views on our plans. "
Anyone who does not have access to a computer can fill in the
questionnaire online at one of the Worcestershire Hub Customer
Service Centres at Kidderminster Town Hall or Civic Centre,
Stourport-on-Severn. Printed copies of the
questionnaire are also available from the Worcestershire Hubs. The closing date for
responses is February 12th 2010.
A decision on the final budget will be made by full Council on
24th February 2010.
