Let's Dance

Dancers are warming up to bid for a top title at the 2010 Wyre Forest Dance Festival to be held at Stourport Civic Hall from Monday 15th to Saturday 20th February.

Over 1000 entries are anticipated this year as the Wyre Forest Dance Festival goes from strength to strength. Dancers from all disciplines will be stepping out including ballet, modern, Greek, national lyrical and many more.

The adjudicator for 2010 is Geoff Lucas who has worked extensively in all aspects of showbiz including, Cats, Bobby in A Chorus Line, the Parson in Heathcliffe and featured roles in Gospel, Jesus Christ Superstar, Divorce me Darling and Oh Kay.

Geoff is an All England and Federation Adjudicator and regularly lectures for national dance organisations. He will be giving written reports to every competitor and will choose a winner, second and third place for every section.

The festival will climax with the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Championships at the end of the week.

Spectators are invited to come and watch competitors at a charge of £2.50 per person for adults and £1.50 for children and senior Citizens. Dancing starts at 9.00 am and finishes at around 8.00 pm. Programmes at £2 each are now available from the Kidderminster Hub at Kidderminster Town Hall or at Stourport Civic Centre.

Councillor Marcus Hart, Wyre Forest District Council's Cabinet Member for Community and Partnership Services said,

"We're looking forward to another spectacular Dance Festival. We're particularly proud to announce we have been selected to hold a qualifying heat for a National competition in theatre dance called Miss Dance/Dance Master UK. We encourage dancers to get in touch to be included in this qualifying heat."

The qualifying heat for Miss Dance/Dance Master is to be held at 7.30 pm on Tuesday 16th February. Girls and boys aged 16 and above who love to dance are encouraged to enter. The winners of this heat will go onto the Grand Final which is provisionally arranged for June 2010 in Blackpool.
