David steps out for gold
David Tidmarsh, who works for Wyre Forest District Council
celebrated a golden achievement last week as he was awarded his
Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.
The award was presented by Edwina Currie in the presence of HRH
Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh at St James Palace in London.
David, aged 24, is the Council's walking co-ordinator and has
already gained his Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Awards which
added to the Gold Award, amount to a six year commitment to the
scheme.
To achieve his awards, David has participated in a range of
activities such as adventure training, an expedition in Snowdonia
and teaching 'Ultimate Frisbee' with 156 Kidderminster Air Training
Corps.
David said "It was a real highlight to visit St James' Palace to
receive the award with HRH Prince Philip walking round chatting to
everyone".
David's future plans include co-ordinating expeditions and
further adventure training for the Kidderminster Cadets.
Councillor Marcus Hart, Wyre Forest District Council's
Cabinet Member for Community and Partnership Services
said,
"We're very proud of David and his achievements, particularly as
he has committed many years of hard work and dedication to helping
other people reach their own potential. We wish him well and
encourage him to continue with his excellent work within the
community."
