The Horsefair Art Project - vote on the shortlist
Stakeholders from a range of local organisations and Councillors
met on 22nd of November to shortlist from 18 artists who
had applied for the commission. The group chose four artists
who they thought would respond to the brief most appropriately.
Artists were marked out of 10 and the four with the most points
have now gone forward for public ballot. The first ballot box
appeared at the Churchfields master plan consultation event where a
large number of people voted on their favourite artist.
The ballot boxes are in public buildings around the Horsefair
over the next two weeks so look out for them to cast your vote.
A ballot box is at the NISA (post office) until Friday
10th December. Another ballot box will be at the Peacock pub
over the weekend (4th/5th) December.
It is important to note that the artwork that appears on the box
is not the artwork proposed to go on the Horsefair
triangle. It shows work that each artist has created in the past
and gives an indication of style. The selected artist will develop
a final design in consultation with the community when they have
been appointed with the contract.
Councillor Tracey Onslow, Wyre Forest District Council's Cabinet
Member for Community & Partnership Services said,
"I'm really pleased with the response to the commission. We
think we've picked the right shortlist so I hope people will get on
board and place their votes."
The aim is to get the artwork installed by spring 2011.
