Have your say - Car Parking Review Phase 2
Residents, local businesses and car park users are invited to a
special meeting to discuss Wyre Forest District Council's Cabinet
proposals for Phase II of the Car Parking Review.
The Cabinet is proposing to make the cost of car parking fairer
and more consistent across the three towns by introducing the same
charging rates for parking in Kidderminster, Stourport-on-Severn
and Bewdley for the vast majority of lengths of stay.
Under the proposals there would be four charging zones within towns
depending on the location of the car park. The zones place a
premium on those car parks more central in the towns where a higher
turnover of short stay is expected and encourages longer stay in
those car parks further outside the main centres. The four zones
proposed would be 'Central', 'Inner', 'Outer' and 'Rural'.
Part of the proposal would see an hour's free parking at car parks
classed as outlying the town centre.
The outcome of the scrutiny exercise will be considered by
Cabinet at its January meeting before the charges are considered as
part of the budget in February. New charges would come into effect
in October 2011.
The special meeting has been organised by a Car Parking Review
Panel which was set up following a joint scrutiny committee
meeting. It is being held on Thursday 16th December
2010 at 6 pm in the Earl Baldwin Suite, Duke House,
Kidderminster.
