Register to Vote - don't delay
Wyre Forest District Council is asking its
residents to make sure that they register to vote by completing the
canvass form that will be delivered to every property from the end
of August. Any person who is over 18 can register to vote and
by doing so, you’ll make sure you are included on the new electoral
register and able to vote at any future elections.
Ian Miller, Returning Officer and Chief
Executive of Wyre Forest District Council said:
“Please register as soon as you receive your
form to ensure you have your right to vote and to help us save
money by not sending reminders. Registering to vote is simple,
quick and easy. We have pre-printed details of people
currently registered for the property. You can simply
complete, sign and post the form back to us or, if there are no
changes to the elector details, you have the option to register by
internet, freephone and also text. It will only take a few
minutes for you to secure your right to vote."
The Register, which contains the details of
Wyre Forest Electors who will be able to vote will be published on
1st December 2010, and will be available at libraries,
the Civic Centre in Stourport and the Hub in Kidderminster.
The register is also used by credit reference
agencies and residents may be refused any credit (e.g. mortgage or
credit card) if they are not included. There is also a fine
of £1000 should the form not be returned.
If you would like any further information on registration,
voting by post or by proxy, please contact us or visit Elections on the Council
website, visiting the Hub at Kidderminster, Stourport and Bewdley
or by phoning Customer Services on 01562 732928.
