Who do you think you are? - Heritage Day at the Museum
Students on work experience at Bewdley Museum have been going
back in time by helping to organise the Heritage Open Day which
will take place on Sunday 12th September. The students
have taken time out of their summer holiday to have a taste of what
working at a museum is like.
Work experience student Jasmine Firkins, who studies history at
Stourport 6th form said,
"It has been a really enjoyable experience
helping out at the museum and I'm really looking forward to
the Heritage Open Day which will have the beautiful costumes I have
been researching on display."
Bewdley Museum will display late Victorian clothing as part of
the Heritage Open Day event. There will also be many
activities on the day for children, including dressing up with
replica clothing and a costume design activity. The event is being
held from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm with free admission.
Refreshments will be available all day from the Museum Café.
Councillor Tracey Onslow, Wyre Forest District Council's Cabinet
Member for Community & Partnership Services said,
"Heritage Open Days are national events organised by English
Heritage, which aim to give the public a chance to discover
England's awe-inspiring architecture and amazing culture. We
have a variety of events taking place across Wyre Forest and we
would urge residents to take this opportunity to get involved and
find out about the heritage of their community."
Heritage Open Days in Wyre Forest are on 10th,
11th and 12th September.
