New Xpression Grants awarded
Grants for the latest Xpression Award scheme,
now in its seventh round, have been announced this week. The
Xpression Award Grant scheme is organised by Wyre Forest District
Council and is supported by Kidderminster Shuttle and Times. Ten
applications were received by the closing date August 14th
2009, of which, seven were successful.
The Xpression scheme was set up to support
sports, arts, heritage and environmental projects in the Wyre
Forest district. Individuals, groups or clubs can apply for
funding. Individual awards are for a maximum of £400 and groups are
able to apply for up to £1000.

Council’s Cabinet Member for Community and Partnership Services
said,
“We’re delighted to support new initiatives to
develop cultural opportunities and activities. We want to help
individuals and clubs develop their talents and support clubs in
reaching their goals.”
All the new recipients have met the criteria
set by the awards panel which includes being a resident, at school,
or a member of a club in the district as well as providing full
details of what the grant is needed for.
The latest successful applicants are:
1. Kidderminster Beekeepers £750 towards the
cost of beekeeping equipment
2. Amelia Hancocks, Samurai Judo Club
£200 towards the cost of a new kit and further training
3. Charis Hancocks, Samurai Judo Club £200
towards the cost of a new kit and coaching
4. Nathan Claris, Midlands Hockey
Team, U15's £200 towards the cost of a new kit
5. Kemp Hospice, £980 to commission an artist
to deliver art classes to patients
6. Classical Music Society £500 to engage
professional artists to preserve the Societies' promotion of
live classical music within the Wyre Forest District
7. Emily Hyde £200 towards golf
coaching
