Calling all brass band fans
Stourport Riverside Bandstand will host a special FREE concert
by popular local group ‘The Bell Inn Brass Band’ on Sunday
27th September from 2.30 pm – 4.30 pm.
The concert has been organised by Wyre Forest
District Council and is part of a national ‘Bandstand Marathon’
event co-ordinated by event company ‘Superact’ as part of the
Cultural Olympiad Celebrations. Venues all over the country
are hosting brass band concerts on this date as part of the
celebrations in the run up to the 2012 Olympics.
The event is open to all and visitors are
invited to bring their own chair or a picnic rug to enjoy an
afternoon of popular and traditional brass music by the
riverside.
The Bell Inn Brass Band has previously played
in the ‘Bands in the Park’ programme. This is also organised
by Wyre Forest District Council and this summer continued to grow
in popularity. The concerts took place on Sundays throughout
the summer at Brinton Park, the Riverside in Stourport and the QEII
Gardens in Bewdley.
Councillor Marcus Hart, Wyre Forest District
Council’s Cabinet Member for Community and Partnership Services
said,
“Once again we’ve had really positive feedback
about our summer music events. Visitors told us they
appreciated the fact that local facilities are being used and
people are able to get together and enjoy live music for
free. It’s great that we’re able to take part in the
Bandstand Marathon and provide an additional concert for free.”
