Purse alarms handed out
Local residents were given the chance to learn more about
keeping their purses safe from thieves at an event on
27th November in Kidderminster Town Centre.
The successful event was put on as a response by the Wyre Forest
Community Safety Partnership to a recent spate of purse thefts in
the town and to raise awareness of purse security as the town gets
busy and crowded with Christmas shoppers. The team talked
to more than 100 people and gave away 140 purse alarms,
50 purse bells and 30 crime prevention packs over a three hour
period.
Helen Dyke, Chair of the Wyre Forest Community Safety
Partnership said,
"We were very pleased at the amount of people that visited our
stand to take advantage of free security advice and purse
alarms. However, we would urge everyone not to forget that
it's really important to look after your handbags and purses,
especially at this busy time leading up to Christmas. Please
don't hang bags on the back of your shopping trolley, or leave them
unattended and keep your purse at the bottom of your bag and your
bag zipped up at all times."
