Brinton Park flies the Green Flag!
Brinton Park in Kidderminster has joined the elite group of
green spaces throughout Britain to achieve the prestigious Green
Flag Award.
This award recognises well managed and high quality green spaces
around the country. To be eligible for the award, a park must meet
specific criteria such as being a welcoming place, being safe and
secure, sustainable, clean and well maintained.
An essential element of the criteria is that the local community is
involved with the ongoing development of the park. Support from the
Friends of Brinton Park and Kidderminster College has gone a long
way to securing the award for Wyre Forest District Council.
Cllr Marcus Hart, Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member for
Community and Partnership said
“We are very proud of this achievement which is nationally
recognised as the bench mark for high quality management of public
open spaces. This award adds to a great collection of awards for
green spaces and parks and is a reflection of all the hard work and
dedication by the Council and partners across the district. We’re
really pleased that people of all ages and backgrounds get involved
with ongoing development of the park as well as enjoying the space
for its own sake.”
QE11 Jubilee Gardens, Bewdley has won the top Green Flag award for
the third year running. Broadwaters Park has once again been
awarded the Green Pennant award which is national recognition for
the high quality voluntary works delivered by the Friends of
Broadwaters.
Cllr Hart said,
“It is a great achievement to have these three areas chosen for an
award and the practices adopted for these areas are also being
applied to other green spaces throughout the district. The Council,
working with partners, is committed to raising the standard of
parks and green spaces district wide.”
