Xpression Leisure Grant Scheme
The Wyre Forest District Council 'Xpression' Leisure Grant Scheme
is designed to open up new opportunities for groups or individuals
who are taking part in arts, sports, environmental and heritage
activities. The scheme, which incorporates the Ray Mercer Sporting
Foundation awards, is intended to support small, local projects and
people in achieving their potential. Individuals may apply for a
maximum of £400 and groups/clubs, up to £1,000.
To be eligible for a grant from the Fund, you must:
- be a resident
- provide a detailed breakdown of what you need the grant
for
- complete the final evaluation.

Priority will be given to projects that are:
- new initiatives;
- developing cultural opportunities/ activities;
- developing individual / club talent or potential; and
- supporting organisations/clubs to achieve their goals.
The scheme is unlikely to fund:
- general revenue costs;
- commercial organisations;
- more than one application per year from the same individual or
group.
The closing dates for applications are;
- 15nd December 2011
- 15th June 2012
- 7th December 2012
The following are examples of successful
applications:
- Tom Walker was awarded £150 towards the cost of equipment and
attending national and international training and competitions for
Samurai Judo.
- Stourport Bowling Green Club was awarded £1,000 to purchase a
portable skittle alley to enable it to offer a much wider range of
activities to its members and increase their physical and social
activity in the winter months.
- Cuckoo's Nest Theatre Company works with groups of mentally ill
and disabled people. Its award of £375 will enable the Company to
develop its performance and to participate in an International Mask
Festival.
