Help with your council tax

If you are struggling to make payments on your council tax because you are on a low income you may be entitled to some help towards your bill.

There are 2 different types of help available - council tax benefit and second adult rebate.

Council tax benefit looks at the income and savings of everyone in the property.

Second adult rebate can be awarded if you cannot claim for single person's discount because you have non-dependants (ie people over 18) living with you but they are on a low income.

If you think you qualify for both types of help we will work out which one will give you the most help when we assess your claim.

If you would like to claim for either council tax benefit or second adult rebate you will need to complete an application form and provide information. See how to claim for more information.
