What is Street Trading?“Street trading” means the selling or exposing or offering for sale of any article (including a living thing) in a street.
A "street" includes:
a) any road, footway, beach or other area to which the public have access without payment; or
b) a service area which is land adjoining or in the vicinity of a special road which is provided for service stations or other
building or facilities connected therewith.
The Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 (Paragraph 1, Schedule 4) provides further information on whether
Street Trading Consent is required.
- Trading may be for daytime hours only between 8.30 am - 6.00 pm
- A licence holder may trade only during the hours and times as specified in the Licence.
- The hours of trading may not usually be for less than 20 hours per week. A Licence will only be granted for 12 months.
