Planning

The Building Control team is responsible for the administration of the Building Regulations ensuring that construction work meets the requirements of the Building Act 1984.

The Development Control team process planning and other similar applications for development and answer enquiries regarding the need for planning permission. The team also deals with breaches of planning control through its enforcement duties and matters related to trees and hedges.

The Environmental Health and Licensing team protect the health of the community, ensuring a clean and safe environment by monitoring food safety standards, health and safety requirements, pollution control, the control of infectious diseases and the implementation of the statutory licensing regime.

The Forward Planning team set the planning policy ‘blue print’ for the future development of the district. The team are responsible for the Wyre Forest District Local Plan and the new Local Development Framework.

The Council sold all of its housing stock in April 2000 to The Community Housing Group, (a local Housing Association). However, the Council still retains important housing responsibilities as the Local Housing Authority.
Environment

Our Environmental service teams will respond to reports of abandoned vehicles and stray dogs.

Our Pest Control Officers will provide free domestic pest control and the eradication of any pests that are considered to be a threat to public health, for example rats, mice, fleas, bed bugs and cockroaches.

The Pollution Control team deal with a variety of pollution complaints including industrial air pollution, noise nusiance and contaminated land.

The Council operates a weekly kerbside recycling scheme and a fortnightly domestic refuse collection services throughout the district.

Regeneration

The Regeneration and Economic Prosperity team work in partnership with public and private stakeholders to deliver effective district-wide regeneration, economic development and sustainable tourism. The team work with partners to help improve the social, environmental and economic wellbeing of the District and to ensure that it is an attractive and prosperous place to live, work and visit.

The Section works in partnership with Stourport Forward and Bewdley Development Trust in managing and implementing funding received from the Market Towns Initiative – a scheme to support the viability and prosperity of these towns.

The Section is also developing the Kidderminster Regeneration Prospectus aimed at highlighting the challenges and opportunities for the town whilst promoting the exciting benefits of Kidderminster to prospective investors. The document will help to provide a blueprint for the future of the town and aims to build on existing partnership work including the Oldington & Foley Park Neighbourhood Management Pathfinder; Horsefair, Broadwaters & Greenhill Partnership; and Kidderminster Town Centre Partnership.

Rural Regeneration is also a key priority and is concerned with safeguarding and enhancing the District’s rural communities and businesses.

The Section also offers support for the District’s businesses and provides a range of free services and advice aimed at supporting and encouraging economic activity.

The Section deals with Tourism and supports the Destination Worcestershire Marketing Partnership in promoting the District as an attractive tourist destination.
