The Sports Development Section is committed to developing and maintaining sporting opportunities for the whole community. Working as part of The Herefordshire and Worcestershire Sports Partnership, the Sport Development Officer also works with The School Sports Partnership and local clubs to produce a Joint Delivery Plan.

Joint Delivery Plan

The Joint Delivery Plan is a way of illustrating all of the activity taking place in the Wyre Forest district. The plan is written in conjunction with the School Sport Plan and the aim is to work together to provide more opportunities in the area.

Sport Awards

Wyre Forest District Council hold an award ceremony every year. This provides us with an opportunity to celebrate sport in the district and reward particularly high achievers. Read more about Wyre Forest District Council Sports Awards

 

Coach Development

As part of the joint working with The Herefordshire and Worcestershire Sports Partnership, coaches from the area are able to access a number of coach training courses to further their development.

Access Gold

Access Gold is a scheme run by Sports Development and DC Leisure in the Wyre Forest district. The scheme supports local sporting talent in their development through the agreed use of local facilities.

Community Challenge

Wyre Forest District Council hosts the Active Communities sports project called ‘Community Challenge’. Run as part of a national programme funded by Sport England, Community Challenge is a sports and physical activity project that is based in the Broadwaters, Greenhill and Horsefair areas of Kidderminster.

Community Sports Coach Scheme

As part of a Government Initiative called the ‘Community Sports Coach Scheme’, Wyre Forest District Council has employed a full-time multi-skills coach with a girls’ football bias. The job entails delivering a programme of multi-skills coaching to Primary Schools in the whole of the Wyre Forest district as well as offering girls’ football coaching for both Primary and High Schools.
