What is the Forward Plan? The Forward Plan lists the key decisions likely to be taken by the Cabinet and full Council, in the next four months. It
also identifies who, if anyone, will be consulted before the decision is taken. The Plan is updated monthly. Apart from
regulatory matters such as planning and licensing, the Cabinet takes most of the decisions within Council policy and budget.
The Leader of the Council chairs meetings of the Cabinet. He and the other five Cabinet members are each responsible for
particular functions.
The Forward Plan shows the proposed decisions under the relevant Cabinet Member's responsibility. The Cabinet Members
introduce the proposals within their areas of responsibility at Cabinet meetings.
A key decision is one which:
- involves expenditure or savings of £50,000 or more, and or
- is likely to be significant in terms of its effects on communities in two or more wards or electoral divisions, or one
large ward or electoral division.
