Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) is part of a national review of all councils. It is a wide-ranging performance assessment which is carried out to help local councils deliver better services. For the first time local people can receive independent information about the performance of their council and how well it serves the local community.
Local Government watchdog, the Audit Commission, has assessed every Council in the Country based on:
- the quality of its local services
- its capacity to improve local services; and
- its corporate and managerial effectiveness
and Councils have been given a rating of:
- Excellent
- Good
- Fair
- Weak
- Poor
The starting point for CPA was the production of a self-assessment covering all Council services. View a copy of our Self-Assessment
After reviewing our self-assessment, the Audit Commission visited Wyre Forest District Council in September 2004 to gather further information. A team of inspectors met representatives from the local community, councillors and employees to discuss our procedures and services.
The result of our CPA was published in December 2004. Wyre Forest was rated a 'Fair and Improving' Council. Click to view the full CPA report
