Performance

||

The performance of Wyre Forest District Council affects the whole community – our residents, local businesses, visitors and partners.  It is therefore important that the Council is open and accountable about its performance.

The Council aims to deliver public services which meet the needs of the community and provide value for money.

The performance of the Council can be measured in a number of ways including:

Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA)

Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) is part of a national review of all councils. It is a wide-ranging performance assessment which is carried out to help local councils deliver better services. Each Council is judged by the quality of its local services, its capacity to improve local services and its corporate and managerial effectiveness.

Best Value

Local authorities are required to make specific arrangements to secure ‘best value’ by achieving continuous improvement across all its services. Each year the Council produces a ‘Best Value Performance Plan’ which reviews our performance over the year and sets out our aims for the following 12 months.

Performance Indicators

Performance indicators are used nationally and locally to measure how well public services are being provided. The Department for Communities & Local Government (DCLG) has set a range of Best Value Performance Indicators (BVPIs) for all Councils, the results for which are published in Best Value Performance Plans each June. The Council also has a number of local indicators which measure performance in specific local services areas.

Audit and Inspection

The Council has an independent statutory auditor who undertakes a variety of checks to ensure that financial and operational integrity is maintained. An annual audit and inspection letter is produced detailing their findings and recommendations along with those of the Audit Commission.

Place Survey 2009

The Place Survey, carried out under the supervision of the independent local government watchdog - the Audit Commission, captures local people’s views, experiences and perceptions about the local area.
