Benefit Services

Wyre Forest District Council's Financial Services section provides a variety of services which include:

• Administration of Housing and Council Tax Benefits
  
• Recovery of Overpayments
• Investigation of Fraud Allegations
• Financial Advice
  

Financial help is provided to residents within the Wyre Forest area who have difficulty in paying their rent and/or Council Tax.

Housing and Council Tax Benefit are administered by the Council on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions.

The Council recovers any overpayments of benefits generated due to changes of circumstances of the customer.

Any allegations of fraud relating to Housing and Council Tax Benefit claims are investigated by the Fraud Officers and may result in customers being taken to court and prosecuted or issued with a caution or an administrative penalty depending on the severity of the offence.
