District Local Plan Policies continue in force
Under the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, which brought in the system of Local Development Frameworks (LDF), the policies in the adopted District Local Plan were saved for a transitional period of three years from the date of the commencement of Act. This period expired on the 27th September 2007. The Act does, however, allow the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government to extend the saving of policies beyond that date.

Those policies that are saved will continue in force until replaced by new Development Plan Documents, prepared as part of the Local Development Framework.
