Wyre Forest District Council is working with all other local authorities in Herefordshire and Worcestershire to ensure
consistency and transparency in publishing the scores that food businesses receive following a food hygiene inspection.
'Scores on the Doors' is a national scheme whereby food businesses including restaurants, takeaways etc. will be graded
from 0 to 5 stars based on the quality of their food hygiene standards. The star rating will be awarded following an inspection
by our environmental health team and will be available for potential customers to view on the internet with the business supplied
with a certificate for it to display.
Stars will be awarded on the combined scores for food hygiene compliance,
structural compliance for the premises and confidence in management of the business. Premises are not rated against the quality
of the food produced. The score is only a reflection of conditions found on the day and those standards may have improved
or declined since the inspection.
The rating scheme will range from zero to five stars:
| Stars Awarded | Level of Compliance |
| Excellent | |
| Very Good | |
| Good | |
| Broadly Compliant | |
| Poor | |
| No Stars | Very Poor - Major Improvements Required |
The 'Scores
on the Doors' scheme will enable consumers to make informed choices on places to eat and it is hoped that publication of these
scores will encourage businesses to improve standards where this is required.

For food businesses that want to improve the star rating awarded following an
inspection, download a self-audit questionnaire (117K) produced by the Council to help proprietors identify areas where the business may not be complying with food
safety legislation.
